Our church building is wheelchair accessible with ACROD Parking close to the church door (St Davids) and general parking at the rear of the hall (entrance from Bombard Street).
A new sound system was recently installed including assisted hearing via Bluetooth/Smartphone.
Inclusive Language
COVID-19: While most restrictions have been withdrawn, please feel free to wear a mask if you wish to. Hand sanitiser is available at the front door.
We try to use inclusive language whenever possible. Our readings are taken from the New Revised Standard Version of the Holy Bible, which embraces inclusive language as best as possible.
What Happens in Services?
9:00 am - St David's
A Service booklet containing the service (liturgy), pew bulletin and hymn book will be handed out at the church entrance by the Welcomers as you enter. The service follows the Second Order of Holy Communion with a few variations. The service includes readings from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, a talk (sermon) on the scripture readings, an affirmation of faith, prayers, congregational hymns and Holy Communion. The choir generally sings on special occasions.
What do I have to do in Services?
The order of service booklet contains all the instructions and we encourage you to join in with the words in bold type. We generally stand to sing, sit during readings and the sermon, and stand, sit or kneel during prayers as indicated in the Order of Service.
The Offertory
During the service, a collection will be taken for the work of the church. It is entirely up to you whether you contribute to the collection.
Holy Communion
The Parish of Applecross is an Anglican Church in the Diocese of Perth, part of the Anglican Church of Australia and the worldwide Anglican Communion.
At the 9:30 am service, at the Thanksgiving Prayer we gather around the altar - as much as you feel safe and able to do. You will be directed by the Priest with regards to the distribution of Holy Communion. If you are baptised you are welcome to receive the bread and wine in three kinds; bread only bread and chalice, or bread and intinction.
If you are not baptised or do not wish to receive Holy Communion, you are invited to come forward for a prayer of blessing (please indicate to the priest in a manner such as crossed arms over chest) or to remain in your seat. The choice is yours. Children are always welcome to come forward for Holy Communion or a blessing.
Service Conclusion
The service concludes with final prayers, hymn, blessing and dismissal.
